This week, we got a chance to hang with Head Brewer, Trent Wiegers of Fredericksburg, VA’s Spencer Devon Brewing. Check it out as Trent takes us through a flight f/ their 3-4-5 Pilsner, Sunken Road Belgian Blonde, Fall Line Pale Ale, and their Lauck’s Island West Coast IPA. We dug each of these and can’t wait to taste what they’ll be pouring at the Fest!
We headed out to 1781 Brewing Co. in Spotsylvania to do a tour and get the lowdown on what they had on tap that day. Seasonal brews presented in this tasting include their Dunkelweizen, Belgian Blonde, L’Automne Imperial Irish Red Ale, and their Washington Hare Porter - which is the first beer that they’ll be distributing Downtown Fredericksburg, and their first fully-grown Virginia recipe!
The brewery’s goals this year include to experimenting further with fruits and vegetables, focusing on farm-to-table “foodie” beers. They’ll also be increasing their barrel production to include more barrel-aged beers and additional wild fermentations.
